- This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff QA Engineer I based in Brazil.
- As a Staff QA Engineer I, you will play a strategic role in shaping software quality across engineering teams. You will combine advanced manual and automated testing expertise with emerging AI and agentic testing technologies. The role focuses on building scalable quality strategies, improving test coverage, and increasing engineering efficiency through intelligent automation. You will design and govern AI-assisted testing workflows, including MCP-based solutions, while establishing standards for safe and reliable adoption. Working closely with Engineering, Product, Platform, and MLOps teams, you will influence quality practices across the software development lifecycle. You will also mentor engineers and communicate technical risks and quality insights to senior stakeholders. Accountabilities
- Lead the adoption and operationalization of AI across quality assurance teams, designing AI-enhanced testing workflows and measuring their impact through measurable quality and efficiency outcomes.
- Define standards for safe and reliable AI usage within test pipelines, regression systems, validation workflows, and automated quality processes.
- Design and govern agentic testing workflows using Model Context Protocol (MCP) technologies such as Maestro MCP and Playwright MCP across multiple teams.
- Evaluate emerging AI and agentic testing technologies and lead root-cause analysis for false positives, regression drift, unstable automation, and other quality issues.
- Partner with MLOps, Platform, Product, and Engineering teams to establish evaluation standards, production-quality baselines, and scalable validation strategies.
- Design advanced test strategies, test plans, and machine-readable test cases that enable AI-assisted test generation and improve coverage for new features and complex changes.
- Establish and continuously improve QA methodologies, automation frameworks, and technical standards that raise quality practices across Engineering.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering leaders to refine requirements, identify quality risks, and ensure comprehensive coverage throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Mentor QA and engineering professionals in advanced testing techniques, AI-assisted quality practices, and scalable automation approaches.
- Communicate testing outcomes, quality insights, technical risks, and recommendations clearly to engineering leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Promote reusable AI operational assets such as prompt libraries, validation checklists, triage runbooks, and agentic testing playbooks.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in Quality Assurance Engineering, with strong experience across both manual and automated testing.
- Proficiency with automated testing frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, TestNG, or JUnit.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab or CircleCI.
- Demonstrated experience operationalizing AI-assisted and agentic testing workflows at team or organizational level, including validation standards, human-in-the-loop boundaries, and measurable AI ROI.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted testing and MCP-based test generation or execution, particularly technologies such as Maestro MCP and Playwright MCP.
- Strong judgment regarding AI-generated testing output, including when results can be trusted and when additional validation is required.
- Experience with bug tracking and test management tools such as Jira and TestRail.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven ability to improve team efficiency, testing quality, or engineering output through strategic use of AI and automation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and navigate ambiguity with resilience and adaptability.
- High attention to detail, strong ownership, and a proactive approach to identifying and solving quality challenges.
