Our Opportunity
Work Location: Gabon, Belinga project
Roster: 4 weeks on / 2 weeks off Fixed Term Contract
Reporting to the Senior Project Geologist, this role plays a critical part in the successful execution of the exploration work program. The primary responsibility is to oversee site-based sampling and drilling operations, ensuring all activities align with the company's policies and standards. A key component of the role includes training Exploration and Graduate Geologists in iron ore geology, RC and core logging techniques, as well as data interpretation and target generation. The project geologist is responsible for implementation of the site’s exploration work program and coordinating daily geological activities.
Key Responsibilities

Workload will primarily be project based aligned with the Geology Projects team roadmap along with any maintenance and revision of projects once implemented
The role requires translation of business and department requirements into clear and measurable outcomes which are aligned to data governance objectives. The role also requires you to influence, collaborate and build consensus with stakeholders to arrive at decisions
The role is also responsible for contributing to concepts, business cases, preparation and management of project plans, risks, and issues from project inception through to implementation using industry standard project management methodologies
This role is required to ensure that team operations adhere to applicable IT security processes and policies as well as promoting and championing these where possible
Qualifications and Experience
Skills

Strong administrative and organizational skills; strong report writing, presentation and computer skills
Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Excellent leadership skills
Bilingual French and English is preferred.
Competence with ESRI’s Arc GIS Pro, Field Maps, Database platforms, IMDEX’s ioGAS and Seequent’s Leapfrog.
Must be able to identify rocks and minerals associated with iron ore systems and interpret geological data effectively.
Must be able to competently train and mentor Graduate Geologists to log RC drilling and drill core including linear and planar structural data.
Experience with various sampling programs, including stream sediment and soil sampling.
Experience in managing remote exploration works or mining activities.
Must have a valid driver's license (and be competent in 4WD conditions)

Relevant experience in exploration, mining, drilling or field operations (5-10 years).
Demonstrated capability in responsibilities expected for a Project Geologist.
Ability to work safely and effectively in remote site conditions
