- Act as a Deputy of the Technical Section Leader and assist him/her with the
- management of the technical department as well as execution of maintenance and
- repairs of all machinery and equipment onboard.
- RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for/ensure
- * All relevant governing documents are adhered to by direct reports.
- * All relevant governing documents are revised as and when required.
- * Clear daily guidelines are provided to all direct reports.
- * Visible leadership is demonstrated by spending time in the field and
- monitoring daily operations.
- * Required logbooks are maintained and updated as per requirements.
- * Thorough handovers are provided at each daily change of shift.
- * Support the development of offshore employees’ performance and competence to
- ensure the Rig/Operating Area has the right skills, knowledge, and
- capabilities to operate under Seadrill standards and meet objectives.
- * Other duties are performed as required and/or directed by the direct
- supervisor.
Assist with
- * Managing the overall condition and maintenance of all equipment onboard.
- * Managing the technical department.
- * Budgetary control of the department.
- * Keeping the filing system onboard the unit up to date.
- Equipment & Systems
Responsible for/ensure
- * Operational preparedness of all safety and emergency equipment.
- * All relevant equipment is maintained and maintenance is recorded.
- * Sufficient stock of spare parts and materials required is maintained.
- OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- • Ensure effective use of the Company’s Maintenance Management System.
- • Ensure that personnel complete tasks in a safe and efficient manner and
- comply with all Company
- policies and regulatory laws and regulations.
- • Assist in planning and coordinating all preventative and corrective
- maintenance activities in conjunction with other department heads.
- • Assists the Technical Section Leader with all certificates for Class, Flag
- State and regulatory body
- requirements.
- • Work with Technical Section Leader and other supervisors to coordinate
- daily work activities accordingly.
- • Assist the Technical Section Leader to ensure that all Third Party
- equipment is fit for purpose, certified,
- • correctly installed and maintained while on the rig.
- • Ensure that reports for repair and maintenance of equipment are accurate
- and complete.
- • Ensure that the permit to work and isolation systems are strictly adhered
- to by the maintenance department.
- • Assist the drilling department with repair and maintenance of drilling
- equipment as required.
- • Perform maintenance of all the unit’s systems including the piping system
- according to the
- maintenance program.
- • Assist the electrical department with repair and maintenance of electrical
- equipment as required.
- • Ensure technical inventory is maintained within budget and at operating
- levels.
- • Ensure equipment is maintained as per Seadrill and manufacturer’s
- specifications.
- • Assist other departments to ensure first line maintenance is performed
- effectively.
- • Develop and promote effective troubleshooting condition evaluation and root
- cause failure analysis programs for all technical equipment.
- • Promote and develop maintenance task optimization and provide feedback to
- technical team. Follow up and implement approved changed to SAMS.
- • Maintain a working relationship with the Client representatives.
- • Perform or lead incident investigation as required.
- • Ensure technical inventory is maintained within budget and at operating
- levels
- • Assist with coordinating management of change for design modification of
- equipment and within
- technical area;
- • Liaise with shore based technical staff to ensure a timely transfer of
- knowledge within the fleet.
- • Liaise with the marine department regarding the loading, ordering and use
- of fuel, lubes, potable water
- and drill water.
- • Assist with classification surveys as part of continuous machinery survey
- and any other applicable requirements.
- • Assist Technical Section Leader with budget preparation.
- • Mentor, develop and train crew members to ensure they are competent to work
- in their current job
- positions and where appropriate coached and prepared for the next position.
- • Ensure that approved rig operating procedures are adhered to at all times.
- Report all unsafe activities,
- situations, and potential hazards to supervisor.
- • Actively participate in safety, departmental, pre-tour, client meetings,
- etc.
- • Actively participate in the Safety Management Systems.
- • Ensure housekeeping is maintained in assigned areas.
- • Effectively use all safety and environmental tools employed by Seadrill
- (5-point check, STAR cards,
- PTW etc.).
- • Perform all emergency duties as per designation on the station bill and
- emergency response plans.
- • Comply with the training matrix for the position.
- • Comply with the Competence Assurance Program in a timely manner as per
- Seadrill requirement.
- • Conduct performance appraisals for subordinates. Recommend promotion,
- development or disciplinary action.
- • Follow maintenance policy as specified by the Company at all times.
- • Review and, as required, perform all safety control duties as per rig´s
- specific HSE Case, Safety Case, HAZOP and TBRA´s.
- • Review and, as required, perform all duties related to safety controls
- among all tasks performed by himself and or working group.
- • Perform, respecting any applicable license limitation and under
- supervision, similar responsibilities as the Technical Leader, Engine Room
- Operator or Assistant Technical Section Leader for training, qualification and
- temporary coverage purposes.
- • Perform, if required, the same duties as senior mechanic.
- QUALIFICATIONS
- As per Seadrill training and competence directives.
- * Be able to communicate in English (and Portuguese is a nice to have)
- * Technical School Diploma in Mechanic
- * Active professional register in CREA / CFT
- * Previous experience in the function
