Job Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Strategic Delivery
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Expert/Senior Observability Engineers and SREs.
  • Define and execute the enterprise observability roadmap, transitioning the organization to modern platforms (IBM Instana, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
  • Manage vendor relationships, software licensing, cloud consumption costs, and department budgets.
  • Agile, Scrum & Project Management (PMP)
  • Act as the delivery leader for all observability engineering initiatives using Agile/Scrum frameworks.
  • Oversee backlog grooming, sprint planning, and resource capacity for the engineering team.
  • Apply PMP best practices to manage large-scale, complex projects, such as FOAK platform onboarding, tool migrations, and multi-cloud telemetry integrations.
  • ITIL & Operational Excellence
  • Champion ITIL v4 practices across the team, ensuring strict adherence to Change, Incident, and Problem Management protocols.
  • Serve as the Senior Escalation Manager during Major Incidents (P1/P2), coordinating multi-disciplinary war rooms and driving post-incident Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Drive continuous improvement by automating operational toil and integrating observability tools with ITSM platforms (ServiceNow).
  • SRE Governance & Technical Oversight
  • Govern enterprise Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and Error Budgets.
  • Provide technical oversight on architecture designs for Kubernetes observability, telemetry pipelines, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Ansible/Terraform).
  • Ensure all observability platforms adhere to enterprise security, RBAC, and compliance standards.
  • Stakeholder & Transition Management
  • Partner with Application, Cloud, Security, and DevOps leaders to ensure observability is embedded into the CI/CD pipeline (Shift-Left).
  • Oversee comprehensive Knowledge Transfer (KT) and transition programs, ensuring 24x7 operational readiness for newly onboarded technologies.
  • Required Skills & Frameworks
  • Management & Process: Agile/Scrum, PMP/Project Management methodologies, ITIL v4, ITSM (ServiceNow), OKR tracking, Budget/Vendor Management.
  • Observability & APM Context: Deep conceptual understanding of IBM Instana, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Telegraf, and InfluxDB.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure Context: Kubernetes, Docker, Multi-Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP), Linux, and legacy monitoring (Netcool, SolarWinds).
  • Automation Context: Familiarity with DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, and IaC (Ansible/Terraform).
  • Qualifications & Experience
  • 12+ years of total IT experience, with at least 3-5 years directly managing Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Observability, or Cloud Infrastructure teams.
  • Proven track record of managing enterprise-wide IT transformation projects and complex vendor transitions.
  • Deep experience operating within heavily regulated, 24x7 enterprise environments using structured service delivery models.

Required/Highly Preferred Certifications

  • ITIL 4 Foundation / Managing Professional
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent Agile/Project management
